My name is Mel Byrne, and my professional duty is to actualize sustainable and productive home landscapes across central Maryland.

I create by hand. I create by mind. I personally wrote everything on this website. I personally create all designs.

I have an academic background in biology. During my Bachelor’s of Science, I worked as a teaching assistant. This helped me earn research grants to study plant pathology and mycology. After graduating, I pivoted from an academic career path to an applied one.

I provide small to medium sized designs. I creatively combine perennial crops, native plants, heirloom vegetables, and outdoor mushroom beds to create balanced, healthy landscapes. I encourage no-till techniques and composting to optimize soil health. I offer optional guidance on garden installation and maintenance.
